Child Protection Policy
Parish of The Most Holy sacrament, Cherry Orchard
July 2007
In our Parish:
- We believe that Children should be welcomed, cherished and protected as a gift from God. Their fundamental rights and safety are to ne respected by all in an environment free from abuse and neglect.
- We acknowledge that children have a right to good role models who well nurture their physical, intellectual, spiritual, social and emotional development.
- All those working with children will support parents and guardians and will supply full information about any activity within the church in which their children are engaged.
- While the welfare of the child is out first consideration we will strive to maintain a proper balance between protecting children and respecting the rights and needs of carers and adults.
- All groups will be notified about our child protection policy which will be on public display.
- Our Parish Child Protection representative will be available to provide assistance to anyone in the parish who wishes to bring an allegation or suspicion of child abuse to the attention of the Director of Child Protection for the Dublin Diocese.
As the Parish Pastoral Council we undertake to bring a code of good practice to the attention of all persons working with children. The code is aimed at protecting both children and adults.
